Character Analysis: Neville Longbottom

So, since I've been reading books on fantasy and how to write it, I had a new insight on Neville. SPOILER ALERT. So before the seventh book came out, everyone was not only psyched that Harry was going to defeat Voldemort, but also that Neville would defeat Bellatrix. When I read the book, I admit I was disappointed that Neville didn't kill her. But as I was reading on how to develop character in fantasy novels, the author wrote that revenge is one of the most cliche ways to drive a character and it also is not the most moral thing you want for you character. So then I started to think about Neville and how I never once heard him say that he wanted to kill Bellatrix. So the thing that I think Neville was out to do was not to have revenge but to avenge, not only his parents, but every person affected by Voldemort's reign. So with that analysis in mind, I am no longer disappointed that Neville was not the one to off Bellatrix and I love Neville even MORE now. Rant for the day.

I have two tests tomorrow and all I've done today was watch How I Met Your Mother, but it was totally worth it. Homework now.

So...hi!

Hi, my name is Jasmine. I started this blog quite a while ago but I never really updated or anything so yea, I'm starting over! So as of now, I've been doing a fantasy genre study. I picked up this great book called Writing the Fantasy Film by Sable Jak. It's a really great starter book for anyone who's interested in writing fantasy. It also directs you to other books that may help, so if you're interested in fantasy, it's a good book. If you like other genres, the same publisher has books for other genres like action films. So yea! I recorded Conan last night so my DVR calls.

Go Coco!

Best,
Jasmine
